St. Andrews has a long history of week-long Vacation Bible Schools, drawing up to 100 children from the congregation and surrounding community, but in 2015 we tried something completely different:  a week-long “day camp” for a limited number of children, presented and managed by traveling staff of our regional church camp, Camp Krislund.

They provided the “brains” and we volunteered the “muscle.” The program, the theme, the music, the games, the crafts, were all brought from Krislund. Our volunteers provided support in the way of checking-in the children each day, shepherding them from activity to activity, providing snacks and lunch, and filling out the adult supervision function. The camp is for students having completed Kindergarten through 8th grade.

This camp also included a very special experience:  one night away at Camp Krislund, enjoying the wonderful camp adventures that Krislund has to offer:  a rock-climbing wall, a zip-line, pool time, archery, and much more.

Our Traveling Day Camp has been an enormous success and we are happy to be presenting it for the fifth straight year. This year the slots have been filled sooner than ever, with a majority of the roster being return campers, and the majority coming from outside our church membership.

This year our Krislund Day Camp will take place from Monday, July 8 through Friday, July 12. Campers will leave Thursday morning for Krislund in time to have lunch at Camp Krislund and will arrive back at the church late in the afternoon on Friday.

There are still openings for volunteers. Sign up in the Gathering Area at St. Andrews and be ready to engage with great campers, fellowship with St. Andrews friends, and get kids enthused about group ministry and a life with Christ.
